Estate businesses are moving on up

Businesses on Winsford Industrial Estate are bucking the economic trend and proving it is possible to expand and increase turnover even during the current recession.

Established businesses on the estate are taking over extra units or moving in to bigger premises to cope with the extra demand. Here are just a few of the success stories…

Firm cleans up

Cleaning Supplies 2U of Unit 3, Wallace Court, supplies cleaning, janitorial and hygiene services online.

They moved to Winsford Industrial Estate in 1995 and have recently converted two ground floor offices into a display area and trade counter to offer an instant take-away service.

The user friendly one-stop shop delivers a vast array of cleaning materials nationwide every day.

Company secretary John Hargreaves is also offering a permanent 10 per cent discount on products for anyone who works on the estate.

Driving success forward

Combined Tyres of Road 3, Wallace Court, moved onto Winsford Industrial Estate 20 years ago with just two members of staff.

Now the company employs 10 people and is moving to new premises at Unit 2, Road 4.

Combined Tyres supplies and fits tyres and exhausts and also does servicing.

When they move into their new premises they are hoping to expand their business to include MOTs, as well as taking on an extra member of staff.

Sign of the times

The Post and Column company based at Units 1 and 3 on Road 4 have recently taken over unit 2, to provide additional storage space.

The company makes posts and columns for traffic signposts and well as lighting columns for street lights. The expansion is due to the fact that Post and Column are the sole UK distributer for the Jerol safety post system which has been adopted by the government for use on UK roads.

They have been on the industrial estate for about 20 years.

Managing Director Howard Luther said: “We needed the extra storage space after a re-organisation of the business.”

Mega growth for home delivery company

VKR Logistics, run by husband and wife team Vincent and Lucie Riley, moved onto the industrial estate two and a half years ago and have just completed their third move into their fourth new home.

VKR Logistics delivers furniture and home goods which have been bought online.

The couple started the company from the garage of their home in 2004 and moved onto the industrial estate 18 months later.

Now based at Unit 9, Ion Path, Road 3, the company employs 12 members of staff and deals in trade, retail and domestic deliveries. They collect and deliver direct from national distribution centres.
