Packing a punch 100 years on

Staff at Ambassador Packaging are celebrating as the company marks 100 years as a registered business.

The specialist packaging and distribution firm, which is now based on Road One, was registered at Companies House July 1909, as Birmingham based company known as JW Baldwin.

Gary Chester said:  “It is a fantastic achievement to be able to celebrate a century in business.

“It is a testament to everyone who has worked to help make the business such a successful operation.”

The JW Baldwin company was originally known as one of the UK’s leading wood wool producers, before branching out into other areas of packaging, manufacturing and distribution.

In 1964 the Baldwin family opened on Winsford Industrial Estate as Jiffy Packaging, manufacturing the world famous Jiffy bag under license from the USA, before eventually becoming Ambassador Packaging, using the Winsford base to distribute the company’s expanding product rage throughout the UK.
