Winsford businesses come clean to help the environment

Winsford’s Flexfilm are the first company to sign a pledge to keep their premises neat and tidy.

The Winsford 1-5 Business Frontage Pledge has been introduced to encourage businesses to keep the industrial estate looking at its best - and plastics specialist Flexfilm led the charge of conscientious companies willing to sign up.

They will now work with Cheshire West and Council, Winsford 1-5 business environment group and Groundwork Cheshire to ensure grass cutting, hedge trimming, grounds’ and buildings’ maintenance and the removal of rubbish and litter is up-to-date.

Cllr Neil Ritchie, Environment Portfolio Holder for the Council, said: “By signing the pledge the businesses are demonstrating to staff, customers, neighbours and the community that they are committed to ensuring a high quality environment.”

The estate, which employs 4,000 people in 120 separate companies, was Britian’s first industrial area to become a Business Improvement District.

Mike Kelly from Groundwork Cheshire said: “The frontage pledge will help keep the estate looking good and will assist with inward investment and property values. The business community here are very active in promoting environmental issues and the adoption of this scheme will have many benefits for the estate and the wider community”
